SNAPSHOT OF MY LIFE

This past weekend we had family portraits. This upcoming weekend we go back to see them. Its gonna cost us a fortune to get any of those photos into our hands. When the photographer left the room for a minute Elie snapped this pic with his phone. Based on the price list, this may be the only pic we ever get of that day….

Love & Muchness, Tova

Oh, how I adore this pic! I totally need a bunch of disco balls. Wouldn’t that make a fab chandelier-kind-of-thing? I envision many sizes of disco balls on strings at different levels and a few lights in there….Make it happen, oh queen of sparkly decorating!!

This is great! I love disco balls. I HAD one at one point, but got rid of it because I really didn’t know what to do with it. Looks like you had a great time…

Jen- I have a motorized vintage disco ball that I bought at an estates sale in college. It traveled with me through college, through four or five apartments and has now been professionally installed in my family room with two spotlights shining on it. All connected to a single wall switch.
In my jdate profile that led me to my hubby I’d written that the disco ball was one of my most prized possessions. Elie only read that far. Then he contacted me. Heeheehee.
I can’t believe you got rid of one. That must be one seriously Muchy landfill. Hahaha.

Buy the pics. You won’t regret it. I spent 500 bucks on baby pics of Brooke. I thought it was an outrageous price but I would have spent that money on stupid stuff anyway. This summer an old friend of mine, who’s an amazing photographer, did family pics. There went another 500 bucks and I cherish each and every one of those pics. I know I’ll look back and remember the people they captured. Nelly with her pouty face, Brooke in her element collecting flowers, me and my big breast feeding boobs. me and Grant holding eachother with me saying, just pretend you love me…. I am willing to bet based on this pic, that it’s worth it. 😉 such a bad influence, I know!

dennel- if I could get a bunch for $500- I would! I got suckered in to buying the photo shoot at a local fair, where the studio had a table. for $50, paid that day, you got the session plus one beautiful framed print. but thats how they get you! After the amazing photo session (done months later) they handed us their price guide for prints…. but they dont DO prints- they only do complete, framed portraits- and they START at over $500!!! For ONE picture!!! AND I don’t love any of their frames- they are all too contemporary / simple for my tastes. I’d want something gilded and ornate & antique-y.
We’re going this weekend to look at the pics. They butter you up with wine and snacks and make you feel like it’s not insane to spend 2K on a pic. I’m afraid I’ll be romanced into spending more than my car is worth. Made me think I can hire a friend photog to just recreate the photo shoot and give me all the digital negatives. All those disco balls are mine.

OWCH Tova! Yeah, it sounds like a sophisticated scam artist! K, now that you kinda know the positions, etc, try to recreate it and see if it works. I hate how they sucker ya in. I wonder if you played hardball with them, they’d drop the prices?? Keep us updated 🙂
